TED Job Opportunity – Accountant

The Trans-European Division of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented full-time Accountant to the Treasury Department at its international headquarters located in St Albans which cover Northern and parts of Central and Southern Europe.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of our organisation, ensuring compliance with denominational policies and maintaining the highest standards of financial stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Ensure compliance with denominational policies and government regulations
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts
  • Conduct internal audits and implement effective financial controls
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits
  • Provide financial guidance and support to various departments within the organisation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Assist with special financial projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional accounting certification (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred
  • Accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit or religious organisation

Essential Key Skills:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
  • High level of integrity and commitment to the values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Salary and benefits are according to the Trans-European Division Remuneration Scales. Details available upon application. A right to work in the U.K. is required.
