Zagreb Earthquake – damage to church property, members safe

22 March 2020 | Zagreb, Croatia (Advent Press Zagreb/APN, Neven Klačmer/tedNEWS)  A 5.3 magnitude earthquake, followed by a series of aftershocks, struck Zagreb, the capital of the Republic of Croatia on Sunday, 22 March just after 6 am. The epicentre was only 6 miles (9.6 km) from the city centre. It is the largest earthquake to hit the country in 140 years.

General Conference Session postponed, downsized

20 March, 2020 | SIlver Spring, Maryland, USA [Adventist News Network, Adventist Review & tedNEWS]  Due to the current coronavirus pandemic the General Conference Session (GC Session) of the Seventh-day Adventist World church scheduled for this summer is now rescheduled for May 2021 in what will be a smaller and tighter event.

In his brilliant memoir Telling Secrets I came across some lines that touched me very deeply. They had a special ring of truth to them. Buechner says, “I wonder if the best thing that could happen to many a church might not be to have its building burn down and to lose all its money. Then all that the people would have left would be God and each other.”

TED Events cancelled over Coronavirus

The World Health Organization (WHO) has now declared it to be a pandemic. As Christians, we have a responsibility to care for others and each other, creating safe working and meeting environments. We need to be involved as part of the solution rather than potentially becoming part of the problem.
