Words of Hope – TED Leaders react to coronavirus pandemic

19 March 2020 | St Albans, UK [tedNEWS]   With school and churches shut, travel clampdowns world-wide, self-isolation and social distancing becoming the new norm, the Trans-European Division has responded with Words of Hope in a video released today.

14 March 2020 | Tallinn, Estonia [Mervi Kalmus]When Coronavirus stops church there is time for reflection.A couple of weeks ago I was reading a book by my favourite author, Frederick Buechner. In his brilliant memoir Telling Secrets I came across some lines that touched me very deeply. They had a special ring of truth to them. Buechner says, “I wonder if the best thing that could happen to many a church might not be to have its building burn down and to lose all its money. Then all that the people would have left would be God and each other.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) has now declared it to be a pandemic. As Christians, we have a responsibility to care for others and each other, creating safe working and meeting environments. We need to be involved as part of the solution rather than potentially becoming part of the problem.

10 March 2020 | Oslo, Norway [Victor Hulbert]  The Adventist Church's call to evangelize Oslo is as strong today as it was in 1878.Betel, the oldest continuously serving Adventist church in Europe, is reinventing itself to meet the needs of changing communities in downtown Oslo. Built in 1885, the double usage building once contained a thriving congregation, a printing press, and sanatorium.

Newbold Church discovers the ‘Great things God has done’

Unless they are family or a close friend, possibly little beyond polite pleasantries and the odd comment during Sabbath School. All that has now changed for a church that, for the past year, has chosen to share individual conversion stories at the start of Sabbath School each week. Those stories are now published in a book.
