The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Greece has a high proportion of women in its membership. As a result, the Greek Mission strategic plan has placed a strong emphasis on strengthening the Women’s Ministries department.

November 8 – 10 saw the completion of the Women in Leadership certification part 1 for twenty women who volunteer within a complex cultural church context. Clair Sanches-Schutte, Trans-European Division Women’s Ministries director, led the training.

I expect a lot from this group who were so on fire. I am sure we will hear more from them.”

She focused on the vital need of quality training in order to equip much larger groups of women for the fulfilment of the church’s mission.

Themes during the training included the Needs of Women in our Local Communities and Churches, and Woman of worth. The closing exercise focused on the future, visioning and goal setting. The women were challenged to plan with hope and confidence, leaving Athens with the commitment that the weekend was a starting point for a long and exciting journey with God. Their thoughts are to make God known in Greece with a strong emphasis to do it in a Greek context.
