Thirty-thousand copies of the 2019 Missionary Book of the year, Hope for today’s families, will soon be distributed across the population of Poland following a launch at the Polish Union Camp Meeting on Sabbath, 20 July.

book distribution editedRyszard Jankowski, President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Poland, introduced the book to the 1,100 participants who gathered on the final Sabbath of the 10-day event, encouraging them to share the book and its message with friends and neighbours.

Victor Hulbert, Trans-European Division Communication and Publishing director was one of the speakers at the camp. He shared that he was taking copies back to England because “my next-door-neighbours are Polish.” He added that he had told them he was visiting Poland and is now delighted that on his return he will have a special Polish gift to give them. Others from the Polish diaspora, who return home for this annual event, will also be sharing with their friends across Europe.

Victor Jeff with Ryszard Jankowski editedDr Jeff Brown, Associate Ministerial Association director at Adventist World Headquarters, expressed how delighted he was to see this book translated and in print. “I am personal friends with the authors, Willie and Elaine Oliver,” he said. “I know that they have never been to Poland, but I sent them a message this morning to tell them that their positive family message is being shared across the country and beyond.”

Poland has just under 6,000 members in a population of 38 million. While the church faces many challenges, the annual camp meeting held in Zatonie, Western Poland, provides inspiration, mission focus and nurture for members who thrive on the fellowship, worship, training, witnessing opportunities, and sense of community that comes for those who travel from across the country and beyond to spend time in the serenity of God’s creation.

Prayer of dedication editedJarosław Dzięgielewski, President of the West Polish Conference, offered a special prayer of blessing on the books before they were distributed from a table outside the main tent. The books will fit in with many of the health and family initiatives run by church groups across the country. They equally join a rich collection of books that Polish Adventists have published on health and family life issues.
