1 June, St. Albans, UK [David Neal]
It’s a title which expresses both hope and a need. Familiar is the reminder of hope. No surprise either is the call to action. There was a time when the General Conference Session was the most powerful symbol of Adventism’s global reach. As our church becomes more and more multicultural, we can see the “world church” represented in our local congregation. Nonetheless, something stirs as we think about the soon coming and long overdue ‘gathering’; as we picture delegates from all ends of the earth coming together to discuss, consider, worship and fellowship with each other in St. Louis, USA.
No doubt delegates will look back in gratitude as to how God has led. And for sure, they will undoubtedly wish to re-affirm the great hope – Jesus is Coming again! By implication, the call to ‘get involved’ must mean that some are not. How to address that will surely be considered.
TEDNews will be present in the room, steered and shaped by David Neal and Vanesa Pizzuto, with daily reports from St. Louis for the duration of the Session (6-11 June). Reporting on multiple platforms (including TikTok!) bringing you a variety of reports with up to the minute actions, a ‘Yesterday in St. Louis’ report, an ‘Under the Arch’ reflection, and stories of people who sparkle.
For delegates – the agenda is heavy and compressed. At first glance it looks like policy, constitution, and Church Manual – all necessary for the denomination to function well. But we’ll be digging deep to find agenda items, discussion points and election outcomes which signal that Adventism is still a movement. If Jesus is coming – what else could it be?
Stay tuned!
Best wishes,
David Neal and Vanesa Pizzuto
