Jesus has the power to make you strong

4 August 2013 Novi Sad, Serbia [Agnieszka Kluska, tedNEWS] About 4,000 thousand people gathered in Novi Sad for the morning worship. Many local visitors have come to join young people at the Pan-European Adventist Youth Congress.

This year marks 150th anniversary of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. ‘As we move and grow as a church, we are challanged,’ said Stephan Sigg, one of the Congress leaders, inviting the audience to pray for pastor Monteiro imprisoned in Togo and for a young man imprisoned in Pakistan.

Abundance of music and art performances set the tone for the Sabbath worship. Jesus was lifted up in unity and with enthusiasm of diverse youth.

‘God is willing to give you the gift. The Spirit of the Lord will come upon you in power. It will make you strong,’ encourages Gilbert Cangy, General Conference Youth Director. ‘On God’s team there is no one in reserve. Everyone has a right to  play in the Kingdom of God,’ he continued.

The powerful message was sealed with a special prayer. All Congress participants put their hands on the shoulder of the person in front of them and so a chain was formed connecting God’s family. ‘Jesus, come to make us strong.  Come to transform our lives. Come to equip us. Come to live with us,’ prayed Gilbert Cangy.

The worship culminated in the joyful praise. ‘Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine,’ sounded loud in the main hall of SPENS as God has been pouring out his Spirit on us here in Novi Sad today.
