15 December 2015 | St Albans, United Kingdom [tedNEWS] As you take time to relax and spend time with family and friends over the Christmas period, you may also want to take a few moments each day to focus on Mission across the Trans-European Division (TED).
During Year-End Meetings in Montenegro, 12-18 November, each Union, representing the 22 countries that make up the TED, took an opportunity to share something of their aims and achievements during the previous twelve months. Twelve of these came as short video reports, generally around seven minutes each, and two as power-point presentations. They are inspiring.
For instance, the Adriatic Union shared how church members in Croatia discovered refugees passing through their village. One lady took some in for a meal and then encouraged other members to get involved. They provided meals, shower facilities, and an opportunity to recharge mobile phones. They looked after around 150 refugees – in stark contrast to most of the rest of the village who retreated into their homes and locked their doors. Slovenia responded in an even bigger way, helping more than 30,000 refugees in just a two-week period. Watch their inspiring report.
Then thrill with David Nõmmik, President of the Baltic Union as, during his report, he shares how British Adventists from Wimbledon, London, helped share the Gospel in Latvia. Also how their ‘Seeds Conference’ and impact projects are making a difference.
The most entertaining report, due to its clever use of animation, came from Finland. It told a simple story of a church and campus that was, sadly, dying. It is a story of failure – but then explains how, with vision, failure has turned around into success. Should you close a church – or a church school? Watch this inspirational report first.
Other reports come from the British Union, Cyprus, the Danish Union, the Greek Mission, as well as Hungary, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, the South-East European Union and Sweden.
With 14 reports, why not have a look at one each day in the lead-up to New Year, then take time to pray for our church members and leaders with their plans for 2016. You can also watch all the videos directly in a playlist, and use the same link to share these wonderful, mission focused reports via your social media with friends, family and colleagues around the world.
