On Sunday 30 April, 175 delegates met together in Tampere, Finland, for the Finland Union of Churches (FINUChC) Quadrennial Session. Representing the Trans-European Division (TED) were Daniel Duda (President), Nenad Jepuranovic (Treasurer) and Ian Sweeney (Field Secretary). In addition to the statutory issues, the agenda included proposed rule changes, and a report on the work of the church over the last four years. For the duration of this three-day meeting, the following leaders were elected to serve for the next four years:
President: Pastor Aimo Helminen (re-elected)
Executive Secretary: Jani Virolainen (elected)
Treasurer: Harri Saarinen (re-elected)
On Sunday 11 June delegates met again fro the second part of the session business.
FINUChC had the second part of the union session on Sunday 11 June with the following persons elected to department roles.
Ministerial Association Director: Pastor Kaarina Villa (elected)
(Note: We believe that Pastor Villa is only the second woman within the TED to ever be elected to this role).
Personal Evangelism Director: Pastor Atte Helminen (incumbent/re-elected)
Communication Director: Dr Timo Flink (incumbent/re-elected)
Vice Chair of the Executive Committee: Dr Timo Flink (elected)
Other positions will be filled by the Executive Committee at later date.
The Finland Union of Churches Conference was first organised in 1909, and most recently reorganised in 2014, with 59 churches.
