Seventy-five years ago, Europeans rejoiced that war had come to an end. Bombed out cities on both sides of the conflict – and historic memorials and war graves are a stark reminder of the horror of conflict. It is also a reminder to Christians to focus on the way of peace.
As Jesus encouraged his disciples, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” [John 14:27]
This special extended edition of TED Words of Hope reflects on VE day and peace as Pastor Victor Hulbert’s devotional thought jumps back to some of our Adventist pioneers and the positive way they dealt with conflict.

Pastor Raafat Kamel shares how he lives a positive life in lockdown, and, in keeping with the theme, the musical team that led at our European Youth Congress and our Pastors Council bring you a ‘lockdown’ version of that moving hymn, “When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul.”
May it be well with your soul, even as we remember an anniversary of peace in less than peaceful circumstances.
