A Year of Mission: Newbold Students Serve and Grow in Finland

What does mission look like when faith meets real life? During the 2024/2025 academic year, students from Newbold College of Higher Education (NCHE) took part in the One Year in Mission & Service (OYiMS) programme, combining classroom learning with practical outreach. After a semester of study and preparation at NCHE, the group travelled to Oikos Church in Finland for their mission placement.

Developed in partnership with the Trans-European Division (TED), ADRA-UK, and NCHE, the OYiMS programme equips young adults to share Christ through practical compassion and community engagement. In Finland, students joined local initiatives, supported churches, and experienced firsthand how mission can transform lives.

The video, “Newbold missionary students in Finland,” captures moments from their time at Oikos, highlighting how faith, teamwork, and cultural discovery come together when young people dedicate their energy to living out God’s call.
