What do you do when you see a friend who needs some encouragement?  For many, it may be to lend a listening ear, give a hug, or share some encouraging words.

The Trans-European Division Women’s Ministries department has produced a tool to help with such moments: a series of Love Notes. These are intricately illustrated cards you can colour and where you can add your own Bible text or message – in any language you choose, making them cross international borders and language groups.

The idea, explains Women’s Ministries director, Clair Sanches-Schutte, is that “love notes can be coloured by you and sent to friends, co-workers, family, neighbours, etc.”  She also suggests that groups of women can get together regularly to colour cards then give them to church members or anyone that needs encouragement or affirmation.

She sees a multi-purpose use for them, “whether it is because they are suffering with health issues, grieving, or in case of happy events like births, marriage, celebrating many years of marriage, or passing an exam.”

Each box, currently priced at £2.50, contains 40 individually designed cards and is available to order by e-mailing the Women’s Ministries department. For inspiration, visit the Women’s Ministries Resources page of the TED website where you will find Bible verses about topics such as kindness, thanksgiving and grief.

Clair concludes, “Let God guide you when making the cards to brighten someone’s day and let them know you care and are thinking about them.”
