Marcos Paseggi, Senior Correspondent for Adventist Review, received the Excellence in Communication Award at the Global Adventist Internet Network (GAiN) conference, held in Budva last week—an annual professional gathering for European Adventist communicators and other church leaders.
For the last eight years, Paseggi has crisscrossed the globe, writing inspiring stories of what God is doing both in and through the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He has done so as the Senior Correspondent for Adventist Review in a freelance capacity.
Paseggi was born in Argentina and is an English-Spanish licensed translator, with a degree in Translation from River Plate Adventist University, where he later taught financial translation and communication for 11 years. While working for the university, he would take theology classes during the summer just for fun.
When Marcos does anything, he does it 110%,” said Paulo Macedo, Communication and Media director for the Inter-European Division (EUD), in the citation given when presenting the award together with his counterparts in the Trans-European Division (TED), David Neal and Vanesa Pizzuto.
The citation said in part: “We recognise Marcos’s ministry for embodying our values: humility, dedication, and trust in God. His story is one of divine guidance, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.”
Paseggi was only 28 years old when he became the academic secretary at River Plate University, responsible for the academic well-being of 700 students and 110 professors, some of whom had taught his dad.
In his comments at the award ceremony, during the Saturday programme, Pastor Williams Costa Jr., Communication and Media Director for the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (GC), praised Paseggi for the high standard of his reporting, which is his hallmark.
The editor of Adventist Review, Justin Kim, who was unable to be present due to an assignment in a different part of the world, said in a message of appreciation, “Paseggi helped the Adventist Church understand what God is doing locally. The World Church is deeply grateful for his dedication.”
Leaders commented on how his background in financial translation and communication, combined with his love for theology, has been a great asset in his current job. God prepared him for this assignment long before he knew anything about it.
“I am very thankful for being recognised, but an award is not essential for the job. I am always looking ahead to the next story, and I am only as good as the latest story I wrote,” Paseggi commented after receiving the award.
