30 March 2016 | Warsaw, Poland [Daniel Maikowski and Andrzej Siciński] Seventh-day Adventist leaders in Poland recently met with the country’s President and First Lady to give them an Adventist ‘VIP package’.
During the meeting at the presidential palace in Warsaw, Pastor Jaroslaw Dziegielewski, President of the Adventist Church in Poland, presented President Andrzej Duda with a special edition of the monthly ‘Signs of the Times’ magazine, some documentary films, and a selection of eBooks and audiobooks.
Duda emphasised to the 11 member Adventist delegation that “God is always the most important, and his ordinances, especially the moral ones in which we believe, build both a good world and a good society.” The President added, that such a great message of mutual respect and mutual understanding leads to a solid foundation for community.
The Polish President is not the only one to receive a ‘VIP package’. This remarkable evangelistic initiative undertaken by the Church in Poland aims to reach out to politicians and parliamentarians. The rationale behind the programme, they state, is based on the recognition in Scripture that we should have respect for our political leaders [1 Peter 2,13-14.17 & Romans 13:1-4].
Their prayer is, that as these materials are shared with this group of such influential people that it will both help them with the huge impact they have on society, and give them a better understanding of the religious minorities resident in their country.
The process has taken several months. The gift of the VIP package to the President took place during a New Year meeting with religious minorities held Thursday, 14 January. Since then, delegations of pastors and local church members have been making personal visits to Poland’s MPs and senators.
The ‘VIP Package’ project is a joint initiative of the Executive Committee of the Adventist Church in Poland, the Secretariat of Public Affairs and Religious Liberty and the Publishing House, ‘Signs of the Times’. [tedNEWS]
