During the Tuesday morning business session, seven General Conference (GC) vice-presidents were elected. Among them, our very own, pastor Audrey Andersson. Originally from Ireland, with strong Swedish connections, Andersson studied theology at Newbold College of Higher Education. After graduating, she worked as a legal editor and ran her own communication company. In 2003, she commenced denominational employment as Executive Secretary for the Swedish Union. From 2010, she has served as Executive Secretary for the Trans-European Division (TED), the first to be held by a woman.
Andersson, an experienced and well-respected leader, has been employed by the Church for over 18 years. In 2016 she received the General Conference Woman of Excellence Award, followed in 2020 with the British Union Conference Women in Leadership Award. While her professional accomplishments are commendable, Andersson is best-known for her kindness, cheerfulness, and generosity.
On the announcement of her election, TED delegates responded with a mixture of happiness and sadness. “Audrey is an absolute treasure, we are sad to let her go, but she will be a great addition to the GC team,” reflected TED office staff. “I go with mixed feelings,” reflected Andersson on her election. “I am very sad to be leaving the TED, it is where my heart is. It will always be my home.” As the first European woman to serve in the vice president role, Andersson encouraged women to get involved in mission. “Follow your dreams, the Church has a place for you!” Andersson remarked. “Follow where He leads, and you will never be disappointed.”
The TED family wish Audrey all the very best in her future role and know that the Holy Spirit has gone before her.
