The official news service of the Trans-European Division of the Seventh-day Adventist church

iCOR, the intergenerational church of refuge, is about Church becoming a safe, community-oriented, spiritual environment for people of all ages. How does that work in a time of lockdown – at a time when churches are closed, families are confined in each other’s presence, others are totally alone, and domestic abuse is on the rise?

The iCOR website states, “Church means a lot of things, but above all, it means you and your “brother” or “sister” in faith, and ultimately, it means us, a community of those for whom Jesus is Saviour, Lord and Friend. Church is how and what we live together in faith.”

What practical help can iCOR give during lockdown?

Zlatko Musija, Trans-European Division (TED) Youth director states, “the Church of Refuge initiative invites the church to be God's city of refuge, a loving and compassionate family of God that strengthens its members and helps them bring life and hope to the suffering world. Instead of becoming more alienated from each other during the lockdown, this time of crisis is an opportunity to strengthen our relationships with God and with each other.”

Working together across several TED ministries, the iCOR team have developed a series of helpful guides. These give practical tips on how to live Christ’s values during lockdown.

The guides are being released on social media and on the TED website. The first three focus on participating, caring and leading. They give some very practical tips on what individuals and families can do in each area, along with links to sites with helpful information. More guides will be released in coming days.
