It has been running since 2013 with greater success and involvement every year! This year, Global Youth Day on Sabbath, 17 March involved up to an estimated 10 million young people.
For the Trans-European Division, Serbia and Iceland were the chosen live stream sites. For 90 minutes, they creatively shared reports from throughout the twenty-two countries comprising the TED. This was a perfect platform for young adults to see and be inspired by other young people.

The TED live stream focused on projects from Serbia, Estonia, Slovenia, Croatia, the UK, Cyprus, Hungary, Poland, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, the Netherlands and Sweden, though youth were involved in every country. As part of the 24-hour live stream it was a great opportunity to see the tremendous impact Adventist young people are having round the world.
The emphasis for 2018 was on providing food and water. Many countries used this as an opportunity to actively engage with their local communities. In the UK, a large group went to central London to provide practical support to the homeless, pr
oviding food, water and clothing.
TED Teen’s ministries director, Alastair Agbaje, was with the Icelandic group. Working on a combination of activities leading up to the day, the youth took to the main high street in Reykjavik on Sabbath, handing out small food gifts with a special Bible verse message attached. Members of the public were surprised to receive the free gift. However, this created an opportunity for them to share the GYD concept and the scale of this worldwide programme.

The impact of each Global Youth day is huge and continues to build long after the event is over. TED provided seed funding project sponsorship in excess of £20,000 specifically as a catalyst for projects to continue throughout the rest of the year. Global Youth Day 2019 has already been set for Sabbath, 16 March. [tedNEWS]
