{"id":289,"date":"2014-08-27T09:55:31","date_gmt":"2014-08-27T09:55:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/sitenews\/2014\/08\/27\/newbold-college-international-business-studies-programme-expanding\/"},"modified":"2014-08-27T09:55:31","modified_gmt":"2014-08-27T09:55:31","slug":"newbold-college-international-business-studies-programme-expanding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/newbold-college-international-business-studies-programme-expanding\/","title":{"rendered":"Newbold College International Business Studies Programme Expanding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><strong>11 December 2011 Bracknell, United Kingdom<\/strong><\/span> [<em>ted<\/em>NEWS] Newbold College of Higher Education, England has signed a five-year agreement with Southern Adventist University (SAU), USA to provide a Newbold campus-based \u2018European Semester\u2019 for SAU\u2019s undergraduate business studies students majoring in International Business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">\u201cThe purpose of this agreement is for Newbold to provide SAU International Business majors with a memorable cultural experience that is Newbold campus-based and academically rooted in Christian business values\u201d said Dr Philip Brown, Principal, Newbold College.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\"><a href=\"..\/sites\/default\/files\/NC-IB_studies.jpg\"><\/a>Earlier this month Dr Brown signed a memorandum of understanding with Dr Gordon Bietz, President, SAU while visiting the SAU campus. The agreement, co-proposed by John Crissy, (School of Business, Newbold College) and Braam Oberholster (School of Business, SAU) provides for Newbold College to host a group of Junior\/Senior SAU students majoring in International Business on the Newbold campus each Fall semester, commencing from the 2012-13 academic year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">From the students\u2019 perspective, the Newbold College campus-based international experience will include \u201cinternational business\u201d field trips to a variety of well-known locations in London such as the European Bank of Reconstruction, the Bank of England, Lloyds of London, the ASI UK conference, visits to companies such as Siemens and visits to not-for-profit organisations such as World Vision International.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\"><a href=\"..\/sites\/default\/files\/P.Brown%26GBietz.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-right-hascaption\" style=\"float: right; width: 110px; height: 154px;\" title=\"One more title\" src=\"..\/sites\/default\/files\/P.Brown%26GBietz%281%29.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>Additionally, while studying on the Newbold campus, SAU business students will be able to participate in \u201ccultural experience\u201d trips to a variety of well known locations in southern England such as the Globe Theatre, the British Museum, the National Gallery, Westminster Abbey, a walking tour of \u2018Jane Austen\u2019s Bath\u2019, Winchester Cathedral, a performance at the Royal Albert Hall, Hampton Court and William Shakespeare\u2019s Stratford-upon-Avon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Up to seven students are expected to comprise the first \u201cpilot\u201d group of Southern Adventist University international business studies students to arrive at Newbold College in September 2012. Feedback from this \u201cpilot\u201d group will ensure further improvements and\/or refinements to the offering with the first substantive cohort of Southern\u2019s international Business students mandated to attend Newbold College for a semester from September 2013. The \u201cEuropean semester\u201d offering will also be extended to the wider SAU student body as well from 2013.
