Charlotte Edwards MBE, English cricketer and current captain of the England women\u2019s team presented Dr Baildam with his award. Charlotte was guest of honour at Garth Hill College\u2019s Celebration of Success last Thursday evening, 24 November.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"..\/sites\/default\/files\/Dr_John_Baildam.jpg\"><\/a>Dr Baildam\u2019s citation acknowledged his proud community service record of over 17 years as a governor of Garth Hill College, including the last 12 of these years as the Chair of the school\u2019s Governing Body. John\u2019s tenure as chairman has coincided with a period of huge improvement for this local public school and his role in this has been highly significant. The citation also affirmed John for his \u201cresolute commitment to education and his capacity to handle difficult situations with intelligence and sensitivity\u201d. He was also acknowledged for his \u201cboundless enthusiasm and ambition to see the school continue to improve and for managing governors\u2019 meetings with an unswerving attention to detail and endless good humour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr John Baildam\u2019s sustained community engagement has been a feature of his service to Newbold College since commencing as a Lecturer in 1982.
