The move follows the recommendation of the 2024 Conference Session that the NEC “continue the search for a replacement of 22 Zulla Road and secure a suitable headquarters.”

From Vision to Reality

Since 1920, 22 Zulla Road has been the home of the NEC, where leaders and staff have prayed, planned, and worked for mission. NEC leaders expressed gratitude for the legacy of the past while recognising the significance of this transition. Quoting Ellen G. White, the leaders recalled her words: “We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history” (Life Sketches, p. 196).

Lessons from the Search

In 2024, the NEC considered acquiring Asher House in Ripley, but survey findings confirmed it was not a suitable long-term solution. The process, however, strengthened determination and clarified the requirements for a new headquarters.

This achievement also builds on the vision and foresight of past administrations, who recognised the limitations of Zulla Road and laid the foundation for this moment, the official statement commented. Special acknowledgement was given to the NEC Building Committee for its “prayerful and diligent work.”

A Home for Mission

The NEC emphasised that the new site is intended to serve as more than office space. It will provide a hub where ministries are resourced, leaders equipped, and members supported.

“This building is not for a few, but for the entire family of the North England Conference,” wrote Steve Palmer, NEC president, in an open letter. “It is a resource to strengthen our shared mission and expand our collective impact for the kingdom of God.”

Looking Ahead

The NEC has invited members across the territory to pray for wisdom and guidance as the move is finalised. “Our desire is that everything done in and through these new headquarters will bring glory to God’s name,” the statement concluded, quoting Philippians 1:6: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

[Photo: courtesy of the North England Conference].

The original version of this article first appeared on the North England Conference’s website.

New headquarters in Nottinghamshire, to strengthen mission and service for generations to come

[7,1577,1588

post-24659","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","category-organisational-updates","category-united-kingdom-ireland
["GET
