Though words <em>equity <\/em>and e<em>quality<\/em> are often used interchangeably, they don&#8217;t mean the same. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action &#8211; \u00a0recognising the unique journey and circumstances of each person, and allocating the resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.\u00b9<\/p>\n<p>In a video clip filmed during the Advisory,\u00a0Women\u2019s Ministries director for the TED \u00a0Karen Holford touches on the reason why it is important for Christians to treat everyone with equity. <strong>\u201c<\/strong>God does not show favouritism\u201d (Romans 2:11 NIV).<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed wp-block-embed-youtube is-type-video is-provider-youtube epyt-figure\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><div class=\"epyt-video-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\"  id=\"_ytid_11054\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"  data-origwidth=\"800\" data-origheight=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qVTXw5r4SuA?enablejsapi=1&origin=https:\/\/ted.adventist.org&autoplay=0&cc_load_policy=0&cc_lang_pref=&iv_load_policy=1&loop=0&rel=0&fs=1&playsinline=0&autohide=2&theme=dark&color=red&controls=1&\" class=\"__youtube_prefs__  no-lazyload\" title=\"Embrace Equity\"  allow=\"fullscreen; accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen data-no-lazy=\"1\" data-skipgform_ajax_framebjll=\"\"><\/iframe><\/div><\/div><\/figure>\n<p>Inspired by connecting with other women in leadership, Halford commented,\u00a0\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s amazing to see so many women in leadership here at the advisory. There are so many things we can do together as women, and it is good to come together to share those ideas. Continuing, Holford concluded, &#8220;I know that women can make a big difference in their communities by reaching out to those who are struggling and be role models for young people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u00b9International Women&#8217;s Day <a href=\"https:\/\/www.internationalwomensday.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Equality<\/em> means each individual or group of people is given the same resources or opportunities.\u00a0<em>Equity<\/em> recognises that each person has different circumstances, and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, sterotypes, and discrimination. A world that&#8217;s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women&#8217;s equality.
