While watching the evening news can at times create fear and uncertainty, an uplifting tune with equally uplifting lyrics creates combing relevant lyrics lifts the spirits. The folk at Opera North UK is just one of many sources to suggest the benefits of singing:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Singing makes you feel better<\/li>\n<li>Singing enhances lung function<\/li>\n<li>Singing helps beat stress and relax<\/li>\n<li>Singing helps improve memory<\/li>\n<li>Singing builds a sense of community<\/li>\n<li>Singing lets you express yourself<\/li>\n<li>Singing can help with pain relief<\/li>\n<li>Singing boosts your confidence<\/li>\n<li>Singing features in wellbeing studies<\/li>\n<li>Singing is for everyone!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If singing from a secular perspective is beneficial, then how much more beneficial is singing hymns and songs as an act of praise and worship?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Praise the\u00a0<span class=\"sc\">Lord<\/span>! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. (Psalm 147:1)<\/li>\n<li>Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. (James 5:13 ESV)<\/li>\n<li>Oh come, let us sing to the\u00a0<span class=\"sc\">Lord<\/span>; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! (Psalms 95:1)<\/li>\n<li>Praise the\u00a0<span class=\"sc\">Lord<\/span>! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! (Psalm 150:1-6)<\/li>\n<li>And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, \u201cGreat and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations! (Revelation 15:3)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See the added dimension? It&#8217;s called gratitude!
