The event, organised by the local Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) team, aimed to help refugees seeking asylum in Norway (more than 30,000 since the beginning of the war) feel welcome and loved.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12794\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12794\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/ADRA-Nowray-Ukraine-630.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12794\" src=\"https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/ADRA-Nowray-Ukraine-630.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/ADRA-Nowray-Ukraine-630.jpg 630w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/ADRA-Nowray-Ukraine-630-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/ADRA-Nowray-Ukraine-630-500x280.jpg 500w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/ADRA-Nowray-Ukraine-630-350x197.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12794\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students from the Norwegian Junior College and teenagers from Ukraine celebrate Christmas together [Photos: Frida Reierson Pascoe]<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe try to facilitate the building of friendships between local youth and those newly arrived from Ukraine to ensure they have a good network and support system,\u201d explains Frida Reierson Pascoe, ADRA Norway Education Advisor. \u201cEach activity we\u2019ve organised has included get-to-know-you games, food, with opportunities to talk and connect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So far, the team has supported over 130 teenagers. \u201cWhile there are many efforts aimed at helping children and parents, we saw a gap in the Council&#8217;s efforts toward youth,\u201d Pascoe shared. Moved by compassion, the ADRA team has moved into action and is working in cooperation with local church volunteers who bake cakes, a handful of Ukrainian and Russian interpreters, and several drivers. \u201cThese youth have been very positive about meeting each other multiple times and have always expressed how much they are looking forward to the next opportunity,\u201d said Pascoe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, this will possibly be the last chance we had to meet with them,\u201d explained Tiani Pr\u00e6stiin, one of the event participants. \u201cIn December the refugee reception at Hvalsmoen closes and the Ukrainians will be dispersed to more permanent homes.
