Duna Youth Centre opened its doors on Sz\u00e9kely Bertalan Street in Budapest, Hungary on May 15th 2018. The approximately 30 young people who attended the opening, had the opportunity to be present at the fulfillment of a long-lived dream. Duna Conference had, for many years, been planning to establish a place in the capital where young people could unwind over a hot drink, have a talk, read or plunge into the world of tabletop games.<\/p>\n

\"HUC<\/a>It is a great joy for all of us that the youth centre has finally been opened. During the opening ceremony we had a devotional time lead by Istv\u00e1n Stramszki and, accompanied by lots of ice cream and cheerfulness, we inaugurated the venue with a welcoming speech given by Ern\u0151 \u0150sz-Farkas.<\/p>\n

Ern\u0151 explained what makes this basement different from any other basement. We usually put things in basements that we want to throw away or forget but the purpose of this place is just the opposite. If we look at the plaque above the entrance, we can read about a great number of Jews who were saved by this basement and by the people who served here. We would like to carry on the tradition  by making this basement a sanctuary for every young person who needs some quiet, rest, spiritual regeneration or good company. We intend to start our ministry here with this message, keeping the same purpose at the forefront of our minds.<\/p>\n

From a historical perspective, we can feel the weight of this ministry on our shoulders. Still, we believe that God will give us strength and bless every initiative that aims to search and keep His own. We are certain that this place is a great opportunity to fill this purpose. We will not place forgotten things here but rather, things we want to keep.<\/p>\n

\"HUC<\/a>The youth centre is open every evening of the week between 4-10pm (until midnight on Saturdays). We welcome all visitors who wish to learn or rest here and we also organise special events for those who would readily participate in art or tabletop evenings or gladly watch the games of the Football World Cup here.
