{"id":11573,"date":"2022-09-01T15:41:44","date_gmt":"2022-09-01T15:41:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/?p=11573"},"modified":"2022-09-04T19:47:04","modified_gmt":"2022-09-04T19:47:04","slug":"the-gift-of-a-safe-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/the-gift-of-a-safe-place\/","title":{"rendered":"The Gift of a Safe Place"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>1 September 2022 | Mazury, Poland [Antonia Kozak with <em>tedNEWS<\/em>]<\/p>\n<p>Through the collaboration of Ukrainian and Polish Pathfinder leaders, from 22 \u2013 29 August, a summer camp was organized for Adventist scouts (Pathfinders). With open hearts Polish Pathfinders opened up the camp to their new Ukrainian friends, now living in Poland.<\/p>\n<p>Located in the picturesque region of Mazury, Poland, and at the Waszeta Recreation Centre near the city of Olsztynek, the camp welcomed 200 teenagers and their instructors.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of the camp &#8220;<em>Chronicles of the Last Battle<\/em>&#8221; provided an opportunity for campers to deepen their faith and believe in Jesus as the ultimate solution to conflict and sin.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-11578\" src=\"https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Camp-worship-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Camp-worship-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Camp-worship-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Camp-worship-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Camp-worship-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Camp-worship-350x263.jpg 350w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Camp-worship-700x525.jpg 700w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Camp-worship-900x675.jpg 900w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Camp-worship-1100x825.jpg 1100w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Camp-worship.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The best of teams<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The summer camp was teamwork at its best, while the Ukraine team ran the programme &#8211; the Polish ran the logistics. \u201cOn behalf of the Ukrainian church family, we want to give special thanks to the sponsors, the Polish Union of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the districts, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundacjapociecha.pl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Fundacja Pociecha<\/em><\/a> (Polish Children\u2019s Aid Foundation),\u201d said Ukrainian Pathfinder leader, Antonina Kozak. Everybody contributed to make sure the children received everything they needed, \u201ccomfortable transportation, carefully planned and balanced meals, city tours with gifts and sweets for evening bonfire meetings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The camp chosen by the Polish team is set in the wonderfully picturesque region of Mazury, Poland. It is a cozy and quiet venue, situated in the middle of a coniferous forest and within walking distance of a lake. In addition, they could play football, volleyball and table tennis, or try to overcome their adreanline driven fears at the rope park constructed by the instructors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The gift of safety<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout the generous support of the Polish Union members and its leaders, this camp would not have been possible,\u201d leaders commented. \u201cIn addition to the provision of an abundance of activities, perhaps most of all \u2013 children were given a safe place, and the opportunity to hope for better future and forget for a brief moment in time about sadness.
