His most recent prior role was to serve for a second time as Newbold&#8217;s Principal Lecturer in Pastoral Studies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeveloping people in ministry is a sacred responsibility,\u201d said Currow on his appointment. \u201cTo train a pastor requires more than the curriculum and includes modelling the values and principles of both Newbold College of Higher Education and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.\u201d Of the many opportunities he sees for Newbold over the next few years, a key priority is to enhance the Placement program because as Currow explains,\u00a0 \u201cWe want to ensure that Newbold graduates are work-ready.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While it is important to Currow that Newbold prepares competent graduates ready for ministry, he also sees future academic programmes creating flexibility to enhance the practical ministry skills of both serving pastors and members.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Australia to a Seventh-day Adventist family, he made his choice for baptism at 11 years of age, \u201cfeeling called to dedicate his life to making an eternal difference.\u201d Entering pastoral\/evangelistic ministry after graduating from the then Avondale College, in 1981, with his wife Narisa, they have been actively involved in church life ever since. With a strong sense of Seventh-day Adventist identity, he is committed to and understands the future direction of the college as mandated by the Governors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Currow-1x1-630.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10545 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Currow-1x1-630.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"630\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Currow-1x1-630.jpg 630w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Currow-1x1-630-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Currow-1x1-630-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Currow-1x1-630-350x350.jpg 350w, https:\/\/ted.adventist.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Currow-1x1-630-200x200.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px\" \/><\/a>In a message to Newbold staff on his appointment, Currow expressed how\u00a0 he was looking forward to working with them in his new role, and his intent to \u201csit with each one and listen to you share about your roles, responsibilities, joys, challenges and suggestions.\u201d He went on further to add, \u201cTogether we will see Newbold continue to contribute to God\u2019s mission throughout the Trans-European Division and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>TED president, and board chair Pastor Raafat Kamal, welcomed the appointment. \u201cI am very much looking forward to working with Dr Currow as he equips the students, supports the staff, strengthening Newbold\u2019s ability to partner with members in their mission to share Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr Currow assumes full leadership responsibilities with immediate effect.
