If you are a local church leader, a youth leader, or someone who is interested in helping others on their faith journey, PowerUp, one of the Division’s best kept ‘secrets’ that recently surfaced in a committee discussion, is something you will want to get involved with.

This training project was launched in May 2018 by Dr Tihomir Lazić, the Trans-European Division Public Campus Ministries director, with the purpose to help inspire and equip students and student leaders / mentors to be agents of change on their college campus, at church, and in their local communities. PowerUp was intended neither to be a “programme” nor an “event” but rather a “movement”. And so, it began with a once-a-month meeting on zoom to:

  • Inspire by sharing fresh ideas and success stories to motivate and enthuse participants for engaging in ministry;
  • Equip by sharing resources, tools and information that would help in meeting the social, mental and spiritual needs of students; and
  • To help change by exploring practical ways to share skills and knowledge with other students so that each becomes an agent of change.

And here is the exciting bit, people are getting involved. There have been a growing number of participants as the word has spread. The topics covered can be seen on the two Calendars for 2019 and 2020 and more are planned for 2021.

Using Facebook and Instagram to publicise upcoming events, with a YouTube channel soon to be launched (currently only a few of the videos are there), the PowerUp movement is going to expand in 2021 by adding webinars, podcasts, podinars, some short courses in addition to the monthly zoom meetings.

So if you are looking to become a part of the change movement across Europe, sign up to be on the regular mailing list, check out the videos already available, and join in the next zoom meetingWednesday, 17 February 2021.
